A Mirage weaver is one of the Wanderers, a foreign soul with a heart demon where its core used to be. It comes out of the Mist each Turning and works for whoever pays.
It serves in Reverie, the affinity of dream, illusion and mind that Aefenna, the Lamplighter holds. Every foreign soul remembers being somewhere else, and Wanderers keep those memories from world to world. Sealborn of Reverie say every one of them already carries a whole world that exists only in the mind. The weavers go further. Their false sights are woven out of worlds they remember, they say, so the sights are not quite false.
It strikes the mind from a distance. It is easily wounded, but it grows stronger the longer it serves. In time, before battle, it breaks against the mind of one enemy company, selected by chance. Later it learns to shield its own army's minds. The card shows what each stage does.
It costs geld and mana to keep, more as it grows, and it leaves when the pay stops. Kill one, and its service ends for the Turning. The soul goes on, and so does its kind.
Weavers say the demon wants to weave a remembered world so well that the weaver who carries it can step into it and leave. No Sealborn has a known, repeatable way out of the Hallow. Whether a weaver can be freed of the demon is not known.
