Courage draught is a lesser work, brewed by guild artisans in a Guild during the current Turning by the method of Tellan, the Keeper of Tallies. It holds no Seal-shard and no hungry spirit. Many casks exist, and each is drunk dry before a single battle.
It is shared out to the whole army before the fighting. For that battle every company strikes harder: in its first blow, in every blow after, and in every blow it returns. When the battle ends, so does the courage.
The coreless lords drink it too, but they are wary of it. Their power is the will, resolve practised until it holds under fear, hunger and temptation, and a given word is that will made binding. The lineages sing that a draught lends courage for one battle; only a given word keeps it.
The Sealborn, who have no songs about it, say only that a kingdom that trains Sunward Hand brews it stronger.
