Loot coffer is a lesser work: a sealed coffer that guild artisans lock in a Guild during the current Turning, by the method of Tellan, the Keeper of Tallies. It holds no Seal-shard and no hungry spirit. Many coffers exist, and each is opened once.
What is inside is a gamble. It may hold a store of geld. It may hold a handful of other lesser works. It may hold nothing at all. Or it may hold an attempted theft, and a theft can go wrong and destroy the very prize it reaches for. What such a theft can reach follows the rules of the Turning.
The stationers, who sell lesser works at posted prices, sell coffers sealed and never say what is in them. They have a rule among themselves, or so they claim: no stationer ever opens their own. They would rather have the price than the gamble.
