Clarity scroll

Clarity scroll is a relic, one of the unique treasures Tellan, the Keeper of Tallies carries through every Unsealing on the Mnemoliths. It holds an old piece of Covenant-stuff, the substance of the Seal-shards, bound into a written scroll. Its treasure spirit answers to Wefan, the Weaver.

Its maker is not recorded, and the shard's first home is unknown. Cultivators say the shard runs Reverie, the affinity of dream and mind, and that it opens easily only to a core of its own affinity.

What it holds is The Unheard Wall, one of the five oldest spells, older than the Scar itself. Reading the scroll can press that spell straight into the reader's core, without the long work of research. Whether the spell can then be cast depends on the round's ruleset. Its ancient rank does not let a mage ignore the ring of affinities.

A reader whose core woke in Reverie learns it without fail. Anyone else is gambling. The spell may come. Or the spirit may take its price in full, and every drop of mana the kingdom has stored is gone. That is the scroll's hunger, and after one reading the scroll is spent. Its shard waits in Tellan's keeping until the recasting.

A relic gives a coreless lord no core, and nothing lets a Human lord cast. Until it is read, the scroll makes its kingdom heavier in Weight, and the Law of Equals brings stronger rivals within reach.
