Corrode mail is a complex battle spell of Bloom, the affinity of living ground that Virenna, the Greenmother holds. Before the fighting, a creeping green rot spreads over the enemy's armour. For that battle, every company on the other side is easier to hurt with blade and claw. A Bloom shard makes the rot bite deepest, and a deeper realm makes it spread further; the card shows how much.
Bloom artisans say a made thing is only borrowed from the ground, and the ground always asks for it back. It is an odd saying from the affinity whose artisan bound an old shard into Greenmother's Ox, the ox made to tend fields. The artisans answer that the Ox was made to serve growth, and mail was made to stop it.
Mages of Pyre and Lumen can reach this spell; mages of Reverie and Umbra cannot. Outside Bloom it costs more, fails more easily and bites less. Each side brings only one battle spell to a fight, and like every spell pressed into a core since the Age of the First Sealborn, this one perishes at the Unsealing.
