Deopa, the Deep holds the Welter's depths within himself. That holding is the Deep, and the shapes that belong there are his creatures. Summon rampart fiend calls up one of the heaviest of them: Rampart fiend, a creature built like a wall.
Umbra cultivators have a story for it. They say the rampart fiends grew where the god's holding presses hardest against the Welter, and that they are the Deep's own walls, lent out for a price. Nothing in the histories confirms it. What the histories do say is that Deopa's creatures are not all of one origin: some arose from the stranded dead, and some went down at the Breaking.
It is a long casting. The caster spends many turns and a great deal of mana, and the creature's own card sets what it costs to keep. Every bargain with the Deep consumes people. Cast from its own affinity it calls the most; against the grain it calls fewer, and a deeper realm calls more.
