Armiger is one of the kingdom's ordinary folk, trained long and hard to fight in heavy armour behind a great shield. The Barracks take longer over an armiger than over a common soldier, and they cost geld and a little mana and are drawn from the kingdom's people. Its upkeep is mostly geld. Unpaid, it deserts; unneeded, it can be sent home.
It fights hand to hand and holds where lighter soldiers break. The card shows its strength.
The affinity is Lumen: order, law and protection. Lumen cultivators remember the armigers of the Age of the Given Word. Ysme of Lumen lent her protection to the Flint lineage against a shared enemy, and they say her armigers held the line in that war beside the lineage's own soldiers. Flint D. Rook watched where they stood. After the victory, he broke his word and struck her where her kingdom was thin. What became of both after that day is a story still to be told.
