Fae mote is one of the smallest of the dream-folk, who live where Reverie runs strong: a winged speck of light with a temper. A mage casts Summon fae mote, and the kingdom's gardens fill with them.
They are frail, but they are fast. They fly, and in battle they strike with raw power before almost anything else on the field has moved. A little mana keeps each one, and they vanish when the mana is withdrawn.
Reverie is held by Aefenna, the Lamplighter, whose Seal holds back night without ending so that power may ebb and return. Each return brings every kingdom a turn. Ordinary folk say the little dream-folk feel that return before anyone. At every one, they dance. A kingdom that keeps them, the folk say, always knows when a new turn has come: the air above the fields is suddenly full of light.
