Hawk is a hunting bird of the Hallow, hired out to kingdoms with the bird-keeper who flies it. It is an ordinary beast. It has no affinity and is Plain, unlike the affinity-born beasts that live where an affinity runs strong.
Hiring one costs geld, a person and a little mana, and the Barracks organise the contract. The folk say the person in the price is the bird-keeper, who never lets the bird go alone. The mana, they say, keeps the bird-keeper's lures bright over a node, and the small mana in its upkeep does the same.
A Hawk flies, and it strikes from above with its talons. The card shows what flight adds in battle. The folk have a saying about the bird as well: a hawk circling high over the Mist is the first to see ground the Covenant has newly fixed.
Upkeep is paid mostly in geld, and unpaid service ends. A Hawk can be sent home with its bird-keeper.
