Holy warrior is one of the kingdom's ordinary folk, handed a great shield and drilled in the order of Lumen. The Barracks can raise these soldiers faster than almost any other, at a cost in geld and a little mana, drawing them from the kingdom's people. Their upkeep is mostly geld. Unpaid, they desert; unneeded, they can be sent home.
They fight hand to hand, shoulder to shoulder behind their shields. They are not strong, but they are many and they come quickly.
Lumen cultivators tell where they come from. In the Age of the First Sealborn, great kingdoms devoured small ones. The small kingdoms of Lumen, they say, had no time to train champions, so they drilled farmers behind shields in a matter of days and held their walls for as long as they could. Then Daegred, the Sunward cast the Law of Equals, and the devouring ended. The shields stayed.
