Siege engine

Siege engine is a throwing engine of timber, rope and iron, with a crew of the kingdom's ordinary folk to aim and wind it. The kingdom's Barracks organise the work, and raising one costs geld, a little mana and several people. Its upkeep is mostly geld. Unpaid crews desert, and a lord who no longer needs the engine can send its crew home.

It throws stones from far behind the line, and in a siege it breaks walls. Fire is its enemy. Timber and rope burn, so fire harms it more than any other attack.

The card marks it Lumen, the affinity of order, law and protection. Lumen cultivators have their own explanation. A siege engine, they say, is order applied to a wall: measured, aimed and patient. A Pyre warlord would simply burn the gate. A Lumen lord counts the stones and takes it down one course at a time.
