A Flame caller is one of the Wanderers. When it released its core in some earlier Unsealing, the Welter came in and took the empty place as a heart demon. The soul has carried it through every unmaking since. The caller cannot hold ground, so each Turning it walks out of the Mist and sells its fire.
It serves in Pyre, the affinity of fire, destruction and war that Undon, the Unmaker holds. A casting mage calls elementals out of the Welter and pays mana to keep them standing. Flame callers say their fire is different. A heart demon is a shape of the Welter already, so the caller's fire lives inside it and never has to be called.
It strikes with fire and magic. It is easily wounded, but it grows stronger the longer it serves. In time, before each battle, it burns one enemy company, selected by chance. Later it sends fire across every company the enemy has. The harm grows with its service, and the card shows how much.
Cultivators of Pyre say nothing the fire takes is wasted, because the ring carries it on as ash into growth.
It costs geld and mana to keep, more as it grows, and it leaves when the pay stops. Kill one, and its service ends for the Turning, but its soul goes on, and so does its kind.
The callers say the demon wants to go back into the Welter as fire and take nothing with it but heat. Whether a caller can be freed is not known.
