Odd tin is a lesser work, made in a Guild with the method of Tellan, the Keeper of Tallies. It holds no Seal-shard, it is Plain, and it is spent when it is opened. The stationers say every guild makes it by the same method, so no single guild claims it.
It is the work its owner brings to a battle. When the fighting ends, the tin calls back a share of the soldiers who fell. The card shows how large a share. Its cultivators say a kingdom trained in Sunward Hand gets more back.
The artisans insist it is no raising. Since the Breaking, the natives' dead have lodged at Deopa's threshold, and Umbra raises them on borrowed life that consumes the living. The tin, they say, reaches nobody there. It catches the fallen before they are gone.
Deep Hand cultivators remember Odrin Half-Core, whose dead rose while his living folk faded. They call the tin what he wanted and never found: the fallen back, and no one at home paying for it.
