Sky rug is a long, patterned rug that never quite lies flat. It is a lesser work, woven in a Guild with the method of Tellan, the Keeper of Tallies. It holds no Seal-shard, it is Plain, and its threads go slack after one battle.
It is the work its side brings to the fight. Before the armies meet, the rug lifts every company its owner fields into the air. For that battle, all of them fight as flyers.
The Human lineages have a song about it. Their oldest songs tell of the Skybreaker, a native who cultivated the will until he could climb to Heaven's Gate and broke through it. Next to him, they sing, the rug is a poor copy: it lifts an army for an afternoon, and never lifts a soul to Heaven's Gate.
The artisans are more practical. The same guilds that weave the rug also knot Tangle mesh, and they say each was made to answer the other. The rug has no treasure spirit and no hunger.
