Enchanted looking glass

Enchanted looking glass is a relic, a unique treasure that Tellan, the Keeper of Tallies keeps among the Mnemoliths when the world is unmade. Behind its bright glass is an old piece of Covenant-stuff, the substance of the Seal-shards, and its treasure spirit answers to Wefan, the Weaver.

Tellan names no maker, and the shard's first home is unknown. The unearthed say its shard runs Reverie, and that it came from the same unknown hand as Crone mirror. One mirror sends spells back, they say, and the other calls people in.

For that is what the glass does. The Wanderers are foreign souls who carry heart demons, and they enter each new world through the Mist. Cultivators believe the glass shows one of them the way. When its holder uses it, a seasoned hero of one of several kinds of Wanderer, a Flock warden or another, arrives ready to serve.

The glass brings the Wanderer; it does not buy them. Like any Wanderer, the new hero serves for pay and leaves when the pay stops. A lord who cannot keep paying has spent a treasure on a guest who will soon walk back into the Mist.

That is part of its price. The rest is simpler. The glass is spent in the using, a spent relic makes no copy, and its shard returns to Tellan's keeping until the recasting. Until then, it makes its kingdom heavier in Weight, and the Law of Equals brings stronger rivals within reach.
