Quartz elder staff is a Plain relic, without an affinity. It holds an old piece of Covenant-stuff, the substance of the Seal-shards, and its treasure spirit answers to Wefan, the Weaver, the teacher of Weaver's Call.
Its gifts are broad. While it is held, every company in the holder's army is a little hardier and strikes a little harder. When the holder summons, a larger host answers: more of the shapes a spell calls out of the Welter, each still sustained by mana.
This relic's hunger is plain to see. Every spell its holder casts costs more mana, whatever the affinity and whatever the purpose. A mage who casts often pays for the staff many times over in a Turning. Heaven also counts it in its holder's Weight.
No one knows who made it. Sealborn say the spirit takes its share from every spell that passes the holder's hand, a toll for the shapes it helps to call.
Tellan, the Keeper of Tallies keeps the staff among the Mnemoliths between Turnings. There is one in each Turning, and if it is lost, its shard returns to his keeping for the recasting.
