Ember ward is a battle spell of Pyre, the affinity of fire, destruction and war, one of the greatest it holds. Before battle, fire settles over every company in the caster's army. For that battle, no fire can harm them. Sealborn of Pyre say a body already burning cannot catch fire. The same fire bursts outward from them as they fight, and it grows fiercer as the caster's realm deepens. The card shows how.
It is a battle spell, so it takes the side's one battle-spell place, and anything it does to an enemy must get past the ward, the resistance of its affinity and the creature's own resistance.
Sealborn of Pyre date it to the Age of the Given Word. Flint D. Rook broke his word and struck Ysme of Lumen at her thin places, where her own relic had starved her wards. Mages of Pyre took the lesson. They wanted a ward that marches with the army, not one that stands over ground that can be starved. What became of Ysme of Lumen and of the Flint lineage is not yet told.
