Radiant blade is a complex battle spell of Lumen, the affinity of order, law, light and protection that Daegred, the Sunward holds. Before the lines meet, the caster runs light along every edge in the host. Each company that fights hand to hand, or already fights with light, strikes, follows up and answers blows harder for that battle. Their weapons carry light as well as steel.
Lumen cultivators say light is easiest to hold along an edge, and that it will not follow a thing once it leaves the hand. So companies that fight only from afar, without light, gain nothing. Against the restless dead, the natives' dead that Umbra raises on borrowed life, cultivators of Lumen like to pair it with Sacred utterance in their teaching, though a kingdom brings only one battle spell to each fight.
A deeper realm strengthens it, and the card shows how much. A core of another affinity casts it at greater cost, with more failure and less strength. Every Turning a Sealborn must recover it by research, and a Human lord can never cast it.
