Sacred utterance is a battle spell of Lumen, the affinity of order, law, light and protection that Daegred, the Sunward holds. The caster speaks one word before the lines meet. Every company of the restless dead on the enemy's side is struck with light. The living on both sides hear it and are not harmed.
Lumen cultivators say the word commands only what has no right to stand. The restless dead are the natives' dead, stranded at Deopa's threshold since the Breaking, walking on life borrowed from the living. Lumen and Umbra lie across the ring from each other and repel, and here the repelling is the whole point. The cultivators also say the word was first spoken over the ground where the dead of Odrin Half-Core rose, in the Age of Odrin. No record confirms it.
A kingdom brings one battle spell to each fight. A deeper realm makes the word stronger; the card shows how much. A core of another affinity speaks it at greater cost, with more failure and less strength. Every Turning a Sealborn must recover it by research, and a Human lord can never cast it.
