Raise corpses asks more of the dead than bone. It calls the natives' remnants up from the threshold of the Deep and clothes them in weight, so that they rise as Risen corpse: slow, heavy and hard to stop.
These are not the bodies the dead once had. No one keeps a corpse across a Turning. The remnant waits at the threshold, the spell gives it a form, and when that form is unmade the remnant falls back to wait again. The ordinary folk who pay for such an army have their own word for it. They say the flesh is borrowed from the living, and they are not far wrong: every raising since the first of Odrin Half-Core has been paid for in people.
A shard of the spell's own affinity raises the most. Against the grain it raises fewer, and a deeper realm raises more. The card gives the rest.
