Risen corpse is one of the restless dead: the natives' dead, stranded at the threshold of the Deep since the Breaking. Umbra reaches them where that threshold presses close to the ground, and a mage raises them in flesh with Raise corpses.
In the Age of Odrin, Odrin Half-Core laid his affinity over such ground. The dead rose on borrowed life, and his living folk faded. The Sealborn say his first dead rose like these: slow, clumsy and many.
Its bond is shallow. So little life is borrowed that mana alone keeps it moving, and it draws no folk from the kingdom. Its master can release that life and dismiss it at will.
It does not keep its body across Turnings. The body is only a raised form. When that form is unmade, the remnant falls back to the threshold.
It stumbles and swings late, and it has no mind to poison, stun or frighten. The Sealborn say holy light cuts it deepest.
