Summon brook maiden is a spell of Bloom, the affinity that Virenna, the Greenmother holds. It is slow to cast, taking several turns. When it is done, Brook maiden rises from the nearest stream: small water-folk who carry no blade, strike at the mind from the bank and ask for mana instead of coin.
Cultivators find the gift odd. The mind belongs to Reverie, and Reverie lies across the ring from Bloom and repels it. The water-folk answer that a brook does not dream. It only shows a face its own reflection, and a mind that looks too long forgets to fight.
Bloom's neighbours, Pyre and Lumen, can reach it, though outside Bloom it costs more, fails more easily and calls fewer. A deeper realm calls more. Pressed into the shard since the Age of the First Sealborn, it is lost again at every Unsealing.
