Summon celestial judge

Summon celestial judge is a complex summoning of Lumen, the affinity of order, law, light and protection that Daegred, the Sunward holds. It calls Celestial judge to serve the caster's own kingdom; it cannot be cast into anyone else's. The call is long and costly, held open over several turns until the shape answers.

Lumen cultivators tie these judges to the Law of Equals. In the Age of the First Sealborn, great kingdoms devoured small ones, and Daegred, the Sunward cast the law that a kingdom may strike only its equals. Heaven measures who is equal by Weight, the Covenant's reckoning of a kingdom's standing. The cultivators say the judges first answered in the years after that law was cast. They say a judge weighs a battlefield as the Covenant weighs a kingdom. No record confirms either saying, and the judges keep their own counsel.

More answer as the caster's realm deepens; the card shows how many. A core of another affinity calls them at greater cost, with more failure and fewer answering. Every Turning a Sealborn must recover the spell by research. A Human lord cannot summon by casting at all.
