Summon crimson drake is the greatest calling of Pyre, the affinity of fire, destruction and war. It brings the bloodkiln drake, Bloodkiln drake, into its caster's own kingdom.
Dragons are among the affinity-born, native life that grows where an affinity runs strong. The bloodkiln drake is alive. It is no raised corpse. But it keeps its great body by eating the caster's people, so it costs population to keep, and once called it cannot be sent away.
Ordinary folk know the pattern from an older story. In the Age of Odrin, the dead of Odrin Half-Core rose on borrowed life while his living folk faded. The drake is not one of the restless dead, but a kingdom that keeps one fades the same way.
How many answer depends on the caster's realm alone; the core's affinity does not change the count. The calling takes many turns and a great deal of mana. Ordinary folk say the first kingdom to feed one did not outlast its Turning.
