Summon fiend rider calls up Fiend rider: creatures of the Deep that come up already mounted, ready for war. They belong to Deopa, the Deep, whose Deep lies beneath the Hallow and outside it.
The Human lineages have a song about them. It says the riders went down into the Deep at the Breaking, when the world was unmade for the first time, and have been riding there ever since, waiting to be called back up. The lords cannot cast the spell and never will, but they have met its riders on the field often enough to sing about them. The histories agree only that Deopa's creatures are of more than one origin: some arose from the stranded dead, and some went down at the Breaking.
The calling is long and dear. Every bargain with the Deep consumes people, and the riders' card shows how. Cast from its own affinity the spell calls the most; against the grain it calls fewer, and a deeper realm calls more.
