Deopa, the Deep and Undon, the Unmaker are opposed: the depth that keeps against the unmaking that takes. Summon profane reaper calls up a creature that seems to stand between them. It calls Profane reaper, one of the creatures of the Deep, made to harvest.
Umbra cultivators say the reapers are the Deep's answer to the Unmaker. They take, as Undon, the Unmaker takes, but what they take they keep, as Deopa, the Deep keeps. It is a belief and nothing more; the histories only record that Deopa's creatures come from more than one origin, some from the stranded dead and some from those who went down at the Breaking.
It is one of the greatest callings in Umbra. It asks for a very deep core, a vast store of mana and many turns, and every bargain with the Deep consumes people; the reaper's card shows how. A deeper realm calls more of them. Cast against the grain it costs more and fails more easily, and the ruleset decides who may learn it at all.
