Summon sea singer is a summoning of Reverie, the affinity of dream, illusion and mind. It calls Sea singer out of the Welter and into the caster's own kingdom. Mana keeps them in shape; withdraw it, and a dismissible summoning comes apart.
Cultivators of Reverie say this summoning is sung, not spoken, because the Welter answers a song more readily than a command. There is an irony in that. The Human lineages, who cannot summon anything, carry their whole inheritance across each unmaking as songs. The mages of dream sing to call a shape that will not outlast the Turning; the lineages sing so that their names will.
Casting it spends mana and turns. More answer a mage of a deeper realm; fewer answer a mage of another affinity, who also pays more and fails more often. A coreless lord cannot summon by casting. The spell needs a casting core, and shards scattered only at the Breaking, so no one cast it before the first Sealborn learned to cast.
