Air maiden is a small elemental of breeze and light air, shaped like a slender figure who never quite touches the ground. A mage of Reverie casts Summon air maiden, and it slips out of the Welter.
It flies, and it is quick. It strikes with raw power, but it is frail and will not last long against a real blow. Its upkeep is small and paid in mana alone. Withdraw the mana and it scatters like a gust.
Every foreign soul wakes in the Hallow remembering another life. Some remember cultivation worlds. Others remember lives where no one believed in magic. Reverie cultivators say that people from those second worlds dreamed of flying more than anyone. The breeze-maidens, they say, took their shape from those dreams: what a person who has never flown imagines flying must feel like.
Mages who came from such worlds often call one in their first Turning, and many of them do not say why.
