Brute giant is a hulking giant of the Pyre hills, affinity-born where Pyre runs strong. They have no craft and want none. They wade in and hit, and they take a great deal of hitting back. They also come quickly when a lord offers pay.
A kingdom recruits them through its Barracks, at a cost in geld, mana and people, and keeps them on geld and mana. Unpaid, they desert. A lord who no longer needs them can send them home.
The Human lineages remember brute giants in their songs. Before the lineages trained their own Sapper, the songs say, their walls were broken by giants hired against them, and that is how the lineages learned what a wall must bear. A Human lord builds works and walls, and they build them thicker for the memory.
