Colossus is a great figure of Lumen, called out of the Welter when a mage casts Summon colossus. It is taller than a fortress wall and brighter than noon.
It strikes with light, then hurls lightning from afar, and it strikes again before the enemy recovers. It lasts long, aims true and breaks walls. Spells of every other affinity find it hard to touch.
Such a thing is costly. Its upkeep is heavy in both geld and mana, and a kingdom that stops paying sees it dismissed. It also weighs heavily in heaven's reckoning: Weight counts armies, and a kingdom that keeps this figure will find stronger rivals within reach under the Law of Equals.
The Human lineages have a song about it. the Skybreaker was a native who cultivated the will until he could climb to Heaven's Gate, and the lords sing that they descend from him. They sing that he was as tall as this figure, and that he did not need to be. They sing it at mages, mostly.
