Screaming root is treefolk, affinity-born where Bloom runs strong. When a Sealborn calls it with Summon screaming root, it tears itself out of the earth screaming, and it does not stop. It strikes, strikes again, grows back what is cut, and takes a long time to kill. Fire is the one thing it fears. Its keep is geld and mana in equal measure, and its lord may send it back into the ground.
Bloom cultivators tell a story about the scream. In the Age of Odrin, they say, Odrin Half-Core laid his Umbra over ground where the stranded dead pressed close, and the dead rose on borrowed life beside the shards' beds. The shards learned to scream then, and they have screamed at the dead ever since.
Whatever its truth, the story fits the ring. Umbra lies across from Bloom, and the two repel each other.
