Toad is a small creature of the Hallow's wet fields and ditches. It is an ordinary beast. It has no affinity and is Plain, unlike the affinity-born beasts that live where an affinity runs strong.
It has no recruitment price and asks no upkeep. Toads come to a kingdom when someone operates Novice primer, and a Hag can turn enemy soldiers into toads for the length of a battle.
The folk who work the ground are fond of it. The fields grow because Virenna, the Greenmother's First Seal holds back barrenness, and the farmers have a saying: a toad in the furrow means the Greenmother still watches the field. They also say a toad's mind is too small for a dream or a mind-spell to find, and a Reverie mage who tries finds nothing to catch.
It barely fights, and the card shows how little it adds. It can be dismissed back to its ditch.
