Sacred cup stained gold is a relic of Pyre, the affinity of fire, destruction and war. It holds an old piece of Covenant-stuff, the substance of the Seal-shards, and its treasure spirit answers to Wefan, the Weaver.
After each battle, the cup restores some of its holder's fallen companies, if the holder's core woke in Pyre. For any other affinity it restores no one, and a coreless lord gains nothing from it.
A warlord of Pyre who fights often may think the price fair. Anyone else pays for nothing.
Relics surface through guild work, from the stationers or among the unearthed. This cup has one more road. A lesser work, Grail chart, can sometimes lead the one who uses it to the cup, wherever it lies. How often the chart succeeds belongs to the ruleset.
It is one of five cups, one for each affinity: Sacred cup copper, Sacred cup silver, Sacred cup skull, Sacred cup stained gold and Sacred cup bright gold. No one knows who made it, or whether the same hand made all five. Cultivators of Pyre say the gold is stained with the ash of the fire that forged it, and since ash feeds growth, the cup gives back what war took. That is their belief.
Tellan, the Keeper of Tallies keeps it among the Mnemoliths between Turnings. There is one in each Turning, and if it is lost, its shard returns to his keeping for the recasting.
