Summon bone sorcerer is one of the long castings of Umbra. It reaches down to the threshold of the Deep and calls up the rarest of the stranded dead: Bone sorcerer, remnants that have not worn away.
Umbra cultivators say these are the dead who kept the most of their old shape while they waited, and that something of what they knew in life comes up with them. That is a belief. The histories are firmer on one point. The natives of the Hallow never had cores, and a spell needs a casting core. Whatever power a bone sorcerer shows belongs to the form the raising gives it. It is not casting.
Like every raising since that of Odrin Half-Core in the Age of Odrin, it walks on life borrowed from the living, and a kingdom pays for it in people. A shard of the spell's own affinity calls the most; against the grain it calls fewer, and a deeper realm calls more. Grave uprising and Grave touch can bring the same dead up by other roads.
