Bone sorcerer is one of the restless dead: the natives' dead, stranded at the threshold of the Deep since the Breaking. Umbra reaches them where that threshold presses close to the ground. A mage calls this one up with Summon bone sorcerer. Like all raising, the craft goes back to Odrin Half-Core in the Age of Odrin.
It looks like a scholar and strikes like a caster, but the natives lived without cores, and no native dead ever held one. The Sealborn say its bolts of cold and power are not spells. They are the raiser's own Umbra, poured through a dead thing shaped to hold it. That shaping is why it costs so much of the living to keep.
Its bond is deep. Each turn it takes folk as well as mana. It cannot be dismissed and must be lost in battle. It spreads fear wherever it stands, and holy light cuts it deepest.
It keeps no form across Turnings. When it is unmade, its remnant falls back to the threshold.
