A Farm is fields, barns and the people who work them, raised on Wilderness. It feeds a kingdom and shelters some of its folk. Food and shelter together limit how fast a kingdom's population can grow, so every lord, core-bearing or coreless, needs fields.
The people who work them are ordinary folk: coreless, Plain, needing no Core to live on the ground. They sow, they harvest and they pay the geld that keeps a kingdom running.
Their crops grow because Virenna, the Greenmother holds the First Seal, which holds back barrenness so that things may grow. That growth is part of the world until the world is unmade. On the last day of a Turning, the fields still ripen.
The farmers know, as everyone knows, that the fields will be gone when the Seals open. They sow anyway.
