Bottomless purse is a relic, a unique treasure that Tellan, the Keeper of Tallies keeps among the Mnemoliths whenever the world is unmade. It holds an old piece of Covenant-stuff, the substance of the Seal-shards, bound into a plain coin purse. Like every made thing it is Plain. Its treasure spirit answers to Wefan, the Weaver.
No maker is recorded, and no one knows where its shard lay before. The stationers, who sometimes sell it, say whoever bound it wanted coin that no ordinary folk had to earn.
Geld is the everyday coin. In every kingdom, ordinary folk grow the food and pay it. A lord who holds it has a steady income that no war on the fields can starve.
Its hunger is the quiet kind. There is no line for it in the accounts; its price shows only in what follows. Heaven weighs relics, and the purse makes its kingdom heavier in Weight. Under the Law of Equals a heavier kingdom finds stronger rivals within reach, and some of them will know exactly what it carries.
A relic gives a coreless lord no core, but a Human lord can hold it all the same. The purse cares nothing for casting. It only pays.
