Levitation is a battle spell of Reverie, the affinity of dream, illusion and mind. Before the fighting starts, one of the caster's companies, selected at random, rises from the ground and fights with the flying ability for the whole battle. When a mage of the affinity itself casts it, the enemy's eyes are fooled as well: every enemy company aims worse, unsure where the flyers truly are.
Every Sealborn is a foreign soul who remembers being somewhere else. Cultivators of Reverie say that nearly all of them flew in a dream at least once in that other life, and this spell simply lets a company remember how. Only a mage of dream, they add, can make the enemy share the dream.
Each side brings one battle spell. Cast against the grain by a mage of another affinity, this one costs more and fails more easily, and the enemy's aim is left untouched. It needs a casting core, and shards scattered only at the Breaking, so no one cast it before the first Sealborn learned to cast.
