Unseen host is a battle spell of Reverie, the affinity of dream, illusion and mind. In the hands of a mage of that affinity, one of the caster's companies strikes early, and one enemy company fights less effectively.
In any other hands it does nothing at all. Power forced against its grain always curdles, but most spells only land weaker; this one does not land. Cultivators of Reverie say an illusion must be believed by its maker before anyone else will believe it. A mage whose core woke in another affinity can speak every word of the spell and still not believe it enough for it to take hold.
So it is a spell for the affinity's own mages, and a lesson for the rest. It needs a casting core, and shards scattered only at the Breaking, so no one cast it before the first Sealborn learned to cast.
