Mindmaw is a living shape of Reverie, called into a kingdom when a mage casts Summon psi ravager. It is not undead. It is no raised corpse and owes nothing to Deopa's threshold. It is alive, and it is hungry.
It consumes minds to sustain its own thought. Mana alone cannot hold it. Each turn it is kept, it feeds on the kingdom's ordinary folk, and the population pays its upkeep alongside the mana.
It cannot be dismissed. No shortage of mana or geld overrides that. A lord who calls one keeps it until it falls in battle.
It strikes from a distance with raw power and then tears at the enemy's mind. Minds are where it is strongest, and where it is hardest to harm.
Reverie cultivators explain why it cannot be sent away. Once it has begun to feed, they say, there is nothing in it left to release: no mind of its own, only the minds it has eaten and the hunger that holds them together.
