Gleaming wings are a relic, a unique treasure Tellan, the Keeper of Tallies keeps among the Mnemoliths whenever the world is unmade. The shining wings hold an old piece of Covenant-stuff, the substance of the Seal-shards, and their treasure spirit answers to Wefan, the Weaver.
Tellan records no maker. The unearthed tell a story that is hard to prove and harder to forget. The celestial peoples are among the affinity-born, native life where an affinity runs strong. At the Breaking, some celestials went down into Deopa's Deep, and they count among his creatures now. The traders say these wings were shed by one who would not go down, and that their shard runs Lumen, the affinity of light.
Whatever their origin, they still remember flight. While they are held, the holder's celestial companies are hardier and strike harder, as if the wings lent each of them a little of the sky. To every other company they give nothing. A lord with no celestials in the host holds only a beautiful weight.
That weight is their price. Heaven weighs relics, so the wings make their kingdom heavier in Weight, and under the Law of Equals, stronger rivals come within reach.
