Violet ring is a relic of Reverie, the affinity of dream, illusion and mind. It holds an old piece of Covenant-stuff, the substance of the Seal-shards, bound into a small violet ring, and its treasure spirit answers to Wefan, the Weaver.
While it is worn, its holder's spells cost less mana and fail less often, whatever their affinity. It does quietly what Lamplighter's Breath, the art of casting that Aefenna, the Lamplighter teaches, does through long training. A coreless lord cannot cast, so the ring gives a Human lord nothing.
Heaven counts the ring in its holder's Weight, so the Law of Equals sets that kingdom among heavier rivals, and a conqueror can carry it off as spoils.
No one knows who made it. Every returning Sealborn wakes with an untrained core and must recover every spell, even a veteran. Sealborn say the ring was made by a student of Lamplighter's Breath who grew tired of recovering the same spells every Turning, and wanted at least the casting to come easier. That is their belief.
Tellan, the Keeper of Tallies keeps the ring among the Mnemoliths between Turnings. There is one in each Turning, and if it is lost, its shard returns to his keeping for the recasting.
