Heavy ground is a battle spell of Pyre, the affinity of fire, destruction and war. Before battle, the ground begins to pull. Every flying enemy company is dragged down and must fight on foot for that battle. Then the pull crushes every enemy company, and the larger a company is, the more of it is harmed. The card shows how much. From a shard of another affinity, the crushing is weaker.
Each side brings only one battle spell, and this one must still get past the ward, the resistance of its affinity and the creature's own resistance.
Since the Breaking, the Scar in the sky has pulled inward. Sealborn of Pyre say this spell borrows that pull and turns it downward. They say it with some bitterness. Among them it is believed that nothing has ever gone out through the Scar, and a spell that only ever pulls feels like a lesson.
