Magma burst is one of the great spells of Pyre, the affinity of fire, destruction and war. It is cast on another kingdom, and it opens burning ground beneath it. Built land is swallowed. That kingdom does not get it back as wilderness; the land is simply gone from it. No two eruptions swallow quite the same amount, and a deeper realm swallows more. The same fire kills part of every company in the target's army and part of its people.
Sealborn of Pyre say the Law of Equals binds this fire. Daegred, the Sunward made that law after great kingdoms devoured small ones, and this spell obeys it closely. Against a kingdom of the caster's own Weight, it takes the most lives. The further apart the two kingdoms stand, the fewer it takes, and against a kingdom far above or below, it takes none.
Casting it takes many turns and a great deal of mana, and the ruleset limits how often it may be cast. Sealborn say that conquest at least keeps some ground, but this fire keeps nothing for anyone.
